GTA 6 on PS5 and Xbox: which store region to use

GTA VI is sold through a PlayStation or Xbox store, and every store belongs to a country. Find yours below. If it has none, this page shows what the stores' rules allow and what players in Latvia and Estonia do.

Which region should I use?

Your own country's

Use the PlayStation and Xbox store of the country you live in, if it has one. Your cards and gift cards work there, and it is the only choice that follows both companies' terms. If your country has none, the rest of this page is for you.

  • A PlayStation account's country can't be changed after sign-up, so a wrong pick is permanent.
  • PlayStation gift cards and voucher codes work only in the store region they were issued for.
  • Sony's terms ask where you live, and false details can get an account suspended, with its paid games.

Our reading of the companies' own pages, not advice from Sony, Microsoft or Rockstar. If your country has no store, choosing another country's is your decision and your risk.

How to read this table

On Sony's list: a PlayStation Network country. PC only: Sony says its accounts work on PC, not on a console. Not on the table: Microsoft doesn't list the country. Listed: Rockstar names the country among its GTA VI pre-order stores, and says more will follow as platform policies, regulations and age ratings allow.

Left out: Russia and mainland China. Both are on Sony's list and Microsoft's table, but neither is on Rockstar's GTA VI lists, and Microsoft says it has suspended new sales in Russia. Any other country that isn't in the table is on none of the three lists.

If your country has no store: what the rules say

In a country with no console store, every option means using another country's store. These official rules decide what works.

    PlayStation: an account's country can't be changed

    Sony's sign-up page says the country can't be changed later. Games and wallet funds can't move to another account either.

    PlayStation: gift cards and voucher codes work only in the region they were issued for

    Voucher codes only work in the store region of the account, and the country is printed on the card.

    A card from another country may not link to the account

    Sony says a card registered in another country may not link, and suggests a wallet top-up code of your region. Microsoft asks the payment method to match the console's region.

    Microsoft recommends it only when you move to a new country for a long time. You can't change again within three months, and the balance doesn't move.

    Microsoft forbids false sign-up details. Its Store terms ban VPNs, proxies and similar tools to hide your location when buying or redeeming, and it can block or reverse the purchase. Other VPN use isn't covered.

Will a GTA VI box from another country work?

Boxed GTA VI is a download code, with no disc. Rockstar checks a code's region against the account that redeems it, and recommends buying in your account's country.

Xbox: Rockstar says codes aren't region-locked. Microsoft's terms on false details and hidden locations still apply when you redeem.

None of Rockstar's groups includes Latvia, Estonia or Lithuania. For a box bought there, match the region printed on it to your account's country.

Can I change my PlayStation region later?Official

No. Sony says the country is chosen when you create the account and can't be changed later, and games and funds can't be moved to another account. Pick before you buy anything.

Is it worth using a cheaper country's store?Official

Prices differ: the price index lists GTA VI at checkout in 63 markets. But a PlayStation account's country can't be changed, gift cards must match it, foreign cards may not link, and both companies' terms ask for your real country. The saving can cost you the account, so we don't recommend it. GTA 6 prices in every country

Do I need PS Plus or Game Pass to play GTA 6?Official

The store pages describe GTA VI as a single-player game and announce no online mode, and they don't list PS Plus or Game Pass as a requirement. That could change if Rockstar announces an online mode.

Not yet. Sony offers PC accounts there and Microsoft supports PC games, but Rockstar announces GTA VI for PS5 and Xbox Series X|S only. A PC version is not announced. Is GTA 6 coming to PC?

Latvia: which PlayStation and Xbox region to use

Sony serves Latvian accounts on PC only, and Microsoft supports no console games there, so console players use another country's store. Here is what Latvian players use, what it costs, and what the rules say.

Which region should a player in Latvia use?

Finland

It pays in euros like Latvia, Latvian shops sell its PlayStation cards at face value, and the shops' 'EU country' box wording fits Finland's code group. Latvian players name it most.

  • All four Latvian Reddit threads we found mention Finland; two posters say it is their own region.
  • Euros, so no conversion: a standard Swedbank debit card adds 2% on payments in other currencies.
  • Game Room, VR.LV and BIGBOX sell Finnish PSN cards at or near face value (checked October 29).

    Four r/latvia threads on PlayStation regions all mention Finland; two posters call it their own. An older, now closed forum favoured the UK. We read search snippets, which show no post dates (they look like 2021 to 2024).

    On October 29: Game Room 20 and 50 euro cards at 20.00 and 50.00, BIGBOX a 50 euro card at 49.99, VR.LV 20.00 and 52.00. VR.LV's UK cards cost 19% to 68% over face value. The card must say Finland for a Finnish account.

    Latvian bank cards: reports say they work on a Finnish PSN account

    Reddit posters and VR.LV say Latvian Visa and Mastercard cards link, and one names Swedbank. We found nothing for SEB, Luminor, Citadele or Revolut. Sony says a foreign card may not link; a same-region top-up code avoids that.

Can I use a Latvian PlayStation account on a PS5?Official

No. Sony says accounts from Latvia are for PC use only: they don't sign in on a console, in the PS App or on PlayStation.com.

Which Xbox region should I use in Latvia?Reported

We found almost no Latvian reports on Xbox regions. Finland is the match if you use it for PlayStation: euros, and GTA VI is 79.99 euros there. Microsoft wants billing details and card to match the console's region, so a Latvian card is riskier here. Rockstar says a boxed Xbox code isn't region-locked, but BIGBOX says its code needs an EU-registered account.

Will a GTA 6 box from a Latvian shop work on my Finnish account?Reported

Probably, but nobody guarantees it. Shops word the region loosely ('EU countries'), Rockstar puts Latvia in no group, and only VR.LV copies Rockstar's list, which includes Finland. Ask the shop which region the code is for before paying.

Does the Rockstar Store sell GTA 6 in Latvia?Official

Rockstar's pre-order article lists Latvia among the Rockstar Store's countries. We couldn't confirm it: the store's GTA VI page said the title was unavailable in the country we opened it from, and we couldn't test from Latvia. Check at checkout.

Estonia: which PlayStation and Xbox region to use

Sony serves Estonian accounts on PC only, and Microsoft supports no console games there, so console players use another country's store. Here is what Estonian players use, what it costs, and what the rules say.

Finland

Estonian players name it most, it pays in euros like Estonia, and every Estonian shop that stocks PSN cards sells the Finnish one. The shops' 'EU country' box wording fits Finland's code group.

    In the Hinnavaatlus PS5 thread (November 2025 to July 2026) posters say Finland takes Estonian bank cards; in July two point to the UK instead. A 2018 Delfi test and r/Eesti threads also name Finland (Reddit read as snippets, no post dates).

    On October 29, Miterassa, Game Room and VR.LV had a 20 euro card at 20.00 and Bigbox a 50 euro card at 51.49. Euronics' card ('works only in the Finland region') was not for sale; Photopoint charged 37.99 for 20 euros, 90% over face value.

    On October 29 GamePood listed the PS5 box at 77.00, Euronics 79.99, Game Room 80.00, Bigbox 82.39. Bigbox and Game Room say the code is for an EU-registered account; Euronics and GamePood name no region. Shops ship from November 19.

Can I use an Estonian PlayStation account on a PS5?Official

We found no Estonian forum posts about Xbox regions. Finland is the match if you use it for PlayStation: euros, and GTA VI is 79.99 euros there. Microsoft wants billing details and payment method to match the console's region, so an Estonian card is riskier here. Rockstar says a boxed Xbox code isn't region-locked; we didn't check Estonian shops' Xbox listings for region wording.

Probably, but nobody guarantees it. Bigbox and Game Room say 'EU country', Euronics and GamePood name no region, and Rockstar puts Estonia in no group. Ask the shop which region the code is for before paying.
