"Will GTA 6 have online?" finally has a partial answer. Take-Two has said how the game launches; nobody at Rockstar has said when a GTA VI online mode arrives. Here is what each side actually said, and what it does and does not mean for November 19.
Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick told the company's annual stockholder meeting on September 17, 2026 that GTA 6 launches "as a single player experience on two major platforms" - PS5 and Xbox Series X|S. The PlayStation Store listing agrees: it lists the game as offline play only, for 1 player.
In the same answer Zelnick said that, because it ships single-player, Take-Two anticipates no recurrent consumer spending from this launch. That is the closest thing on record to 'no microtransactions at launch' - and it says nothing about a later online mode.
Zelnick called GTA Online a robust, continuing business for Take-Two, and Rockstar is still shipping weekly GTA Online updates on the Newswire. Nothing announced so far retires it when GTA VI launches.
Twitch CEO Dan Clancy told Bloomberg on September 17 that viewing would get a big bump from GTA 6, then an even bigger one "next year when they launch multiplayer". Clancy does not work for Rockstar or Take-Two, and Rockstar has not confirmed any timing.

Both past online modes followed within weeks. GTA VI is explicitly launching without one, which is already a break from that pattern - so don't read these dates as a prediction.
Buy GTA VI expecting a single-player game on November 19 and nothing else. If online play is the reason you're buying, there is no confirmed date for it - the only timing in circulation is a Twitch executive's aside pointing at 2027. GTA Online on GTA V is not going anywhere in the meantime.
